German painter and printmaker, founding member of Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider) group, known for the intense nature mysticism of his paintings of animals. He was a close friend of Wassily Kandinsky, with whom he edited Der Blaue Reiter, the journal that gave its name to the group.
The exhibition displays a selection of paintings and woodcuts created by the artist during the active period of Der Blaue Reiter group.
