Wassily Kandinsky
(Moscow, 1866 - Neuilly-sur-Seine, 1944)

Russian-born artist, one of the first creators of pure abstraction in modern painting. After successful avant-garde exhibitions, he founded the influential Munich group Der Blaue Reiter ("The Blue Rider"; 1911-14) and began completely abstract painting. His forms evolved from fluid and organic to geometric and, finally, to pictographic.

The exhibition displays a selection of paintings, woodcuts, litographs and sculptures created by the artist during the active period of Der Blaue Reiter group.
